Python Cable Tray for Plant 3D

From the Autodesk App Store:

Create cable tray scripts and catalogs. The scripts are Python based cable tray elements. You can use all these scripts to create your own cable trays based on your used standards. Some standard sizes are provided as sample.

Free Robot-AdvanceSteel Link

From the Autodesk App Store:

With Robot-AdvanceSteel Link, you can export a Robot structural model using the smlx format. You can then import the smlx file in Autodesk® Advance Steel in order to detail steel connections and automatically generate fabrication documents. From Robot, you can export values of internal forces with the model to the smlx file. After importing the file to Advance Steel, you can use these values to perform code checking of connections.

Conversely, you can export a model from Advance Steel in order to perform structural analysis and code checking in Robot.

You can also track changes in the same model in both applications using the synchronization feature.

Free ODEDIT for Object Data (OD) for Civil 3D and AutoCAD Map 3D

From the Autodesk App Store:

ODEDIT is a plugin prototype that extends and simplifies the use of Object Data (OD) in Autodesk® Civil 3D® and Autodesk® AutoCAD® Map 3D.

In ODEDIT the basic possibilities of using Object Data as an internal database of descriptive data of objects for Autodesk® AutoCAD® are simulated and practically tested.

The goal of ODEDIT – together with other supplements (ODCLASS, etc.) and existing Civil 3D and Map 3D tools, is to provide the competitiveness of Civil 3D and Map 3D as means of creating primary plans and maps, and collecting descriptive data.

Count Blocks

From the Autodesk App Store:

This app counts blocks, including dynamic anonymous blocks, inserted in the drawing and copies the data to the clipboard. You can count blocks in the entire drawing, the current space/layout or in the selected objects. This app includes the block's description (if available within the Block Definition). Once the data is copied to the clipboard it can be pasted back into the drawing as MText or into external applications such as Excel. This block's data can be used to do a Material Take Off (MTO) or to simply start building a Bill of Materials (BOM).

Free KeySurfaceFix for Civil 3D

From the Autodesk App Store:

KeySurfaceFix runs inside Autodesk® Civil 3D® and allows you to scan surface models within the current drawing for holes and fill these so that your surface accurately reflects the existing site or your design proposals.

KeySurfaceFix main tool palette shows holes
that can be repaired in a Civil surface.

Smart Drawing Utilities

From the Autodesk App Store:

The application contains additional commands for modifying and creating certain graphic objects, in particular - polylines.

It includes the following features:
  1. Reducing the number of vertices using Douglas-Peucker method, add vertices at specific distance, create circles or points on every vertex.
  2. Change 3D polyline to 2D polyline.
  3. Create convex hull using Graham scan.
  4. Select connected lines and/or join them in polyline.
  5. Clear polylinear region from entities.

and more.

Introducing Design Automation Tutorial: AutoCAD, Inventor & Revit Engines

From the Autodesk Forge blog:

By Augusto Goncalves and Madhukar Moogala

January 28, 2019

Design Automation v3 went to Public Beta last month with AutoCAD, Inventor and 3dsMax, today also including Revit engine.

Now we're glad to include it on the Learn Forge tutorial, available in .NET. Everything with 5 steps under Modify your models section:
  1. Create a server
  2. Basic app UI
  3. Prepare a plugin
  4. Define an activity
  5. Execute workitem

We're Baaaaaack!

Several years ago, I launched AutoCAD Add-ons and Civil 3D Add-ons as sister sites to our well-established Revit Add-ons. Unfortunately, these new sites weren't active very long as I was overwhelmed with working full time and trying to maintain three blogs.

Flash forward to now and I'm not working as much, and have some help too, and I'm happy to announce that we've relaunched AutoCAD Add-ons (dwgaddons.com). Here we'll cover add-ins for AutoCAD and its vertical applications, including:
  • AutoCAD Architecture
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • AutoCAD Mechanical
  • AutoCAD MEP
  • AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Autodesk Advance Steel (relocated from Revit Add-ons)
  • Autodesk Civil 3D

We'll also cover associated products, such as, because of its relationship to Civil 3D, Infraworks.
